Pete Wentz is a popular bass guitarist and lyricist. His wife, Ashlee Simpson is a popular actress. Both are young, He is 30, his wife is 24. They have a baby boy that they both adore. Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson are young and are growing up.
It is very hard sometimes to figure out why people are attracted to each other. When one looks at all of the couples who seem drawn to each other, from all outside appearances they have little if anything in common. But, for some reason, they seem to make it work.
One of the things that people learn as they grow older is that love does not hold a relationship together. Lots of people love each other but can’t live together. Children can’t hold a relationship together either. Although some people stay together for their children. What holds a couple together and gets them through all the trials that come with growing old together is “liking” each other.
When people have been together a long time they will often refer to their partner as their best friend. They have common interests, like to share information with each other, and are genuinely interested in what is going on in each other’s lives. Love looks really good in photo ops, but it is friendship that will keep a couple together when the cameras are off and a partner has the flu.
Individuals who are constantly in front of the media often do not have a chance to find out if they are friends. They may share something in common, but whether or not they have enough in common to make them lasting friends, often does not come to light for several years.
There are many reasons that a person would be hesitant to talk about love between two people who are very young and are only known through media releases and photos taken by paparazzi. It would be judgmental and would be purely subjective. In ten, fifteen, or twenty years when one is looking at the pictures of Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson and they are still together and still enjoying each other’s company, then there will be a basis to ask them the secret to the success of creating a lasting relationship and love story.
One can look at these two young people with a beautiful child and hope that they beat the odds and that they make their relationship work. For now though it is too early to say if they will join the ranks Bogart and Bacall, or Newman and Woodward and embody the essence of a true love story. One must just wait and see.
