Both Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez have super talent, legions of fans, and critical acclaim. They also share a loving marriage and two beautiful children. While their path to familial happiness was a bumpy one, they appear to have successfully navigated the rough waters of fame, divorce and scandal.
Jennifer Lopez began her rise to superstar as a dancer on the television show, In Living Color. A star making role as the title character in 1997’s Selena made Lopez a household name. Countless music hits, blockbuster films and product endorsements elevated Lopez to entertainment icon.
Lopez’s personal life was as headline worthy as her professional career. She married Ojani Noa on February 22, 1997. The union lasted less than one year and resulted in a flurry of scandalous lawsuits. Next came a two year relationship with fellow superstar Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. That romance ended on the heels of a felony gun possession charge against Combs.
On September 29, 2001, Lopez wed backup dancer Chris Judd. By June, 2002 Lopez was rumored to be seeing Ben Affleck. Despite Lopez’s published claims that Affleck was ‘the one, ‘ their engagement was called off in September, 2004, just hours before the wedding.
Meanwhile, Marc Anthony, credited with helping to raise the profile of Latin music in America, was busy enjoying his own successful music career and storied romances. Anthony got his start in the eighties as a session vocalist and Freestyle artist in New York City. He later changed to a Spanish musical style and released a string of Grammy award winning Salsa hits.
Already a father from a previous relationship, Anthony married former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres on May 9, 2000. Torres filed for divorce in January of 2004. They have two sons together. Over the course of divorce proceedings, Anthony and Lopez collaborated on a duet for an upcoming film. The pair had been friends for years and had casually dated prior to Anthony’s first marriage and Lopez’s second.
Lopez and Anthony married in a small, private home ceremony on June 5, 2004. Despite a string of rocky romances in their past, the marriage appears to be a stable, happy one and all signs point to lasting love for these two entertainment icons.
