John Travolta and Kelly Preston are a popular couple that have been happily married since 1991. This is quite a while for a couple that are in the limelight these days.
The two first met while filming the movie The Experts in 1987. They became friends at this time as they were both in different relationships. When they met again in 1990, both of them being single at this time, things were far different. Sparks were flying between them.
They were the apple of each other’s eyes from this day forward. He proposed to her on New Year’s Eve, in Switzerland and gave her an absolutely stunning 7. 5 carat diamond ring.
Planning the wedding was a bit trying for them as they were both so busy at the time. This is when the decision to elope in Paris was made. They being Scientologists were joined in wedlock on September 5, 1991 by a Scientologist Minister. Unfortunately this marriage was found not be a legal union. So on September 12, 1991 they had another wedding, but this time it was in Florida.
They were finally man and wife and were ecstatic when they became parents to their son Jett in April of 1992. This would be followed with the birth of a baby girl, Ella Bleu in 2000. They were a very happy family now.
Like many marriages in Hollywood they have endured the ups and downs that have happened. One of the most devastating events that could happen to any couple happened to them on January 2, 2009, when their son Jett died while the family was on vacation.
Even with this traumatic event occurring they are still together. They are moving on with their life despite the grief that they are experiencing. They know that marriage is hard work and have proven that there love is not going to be something else to die.
