Romeo and Juliet
Whether it’s romantic or more like an angsty teenage experience, people just can’t help but buy it, regardless of whether it was written by a William Shakespeare or by a Stephenie Meyer, and whether the romantic couples involved are Romeo and Juliet or Edward and Bella.
Two unlike individuals meeting during an unlikely circumstance, falling in love during the most difficult of times, what can be more romantic than that? Add to it that they are from two different worlds, and that the universe just seems to conspire in order to separate the couple from each other. Indeed, it is the perfect formula for the classiest of stories, for the most effective love adventures ever written.
And not to mention, once the hero and heroine declare they can never be parted, for it is equal to their lives being taken away, that’s when you know that when you can’t get a happy ending, at least you get to witness the sweetest of tragedies.
And you can take your pick. It’s either an ending that shows how death breaks the walls that keep lovers apart and unites the souls, just as Romeo and Juliet has gotten. Or maybe an ending that brings you the inconceivable, when one has to cross the borderline. And what do they gain? They become alike, the citizens of the same world, with immortal bodies, eternal love, bloodsucking tendencies and sharp fangs. And if you can’t seem to decide whether it’s romantic or actually horrific, just be happy that they’ve gotten what they want.
After all, these two couples have gotten it for a cost: Romeo and Juliet claiming their eternal love in expense of their bodies, while Edward and Bella gains it by losing their souls (or so Edward thinks).
And now, don’t you just wonder? What could the next hit ending be?
