These days, a lot of us are intensely interested in celebrity couples. Of all of them, the relationship between Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas provides the most intrigue. These two stars of the stage have been captivating audiences for years in their movies. However, it is their off screen love story that keeps fans on the edges of their seats.

Melanie Griffith, who is the daughter of actress Tippi Hedren, has been actively pursuing acting since 1969. She has been married three times - four, technically, due to the fact that the now 51 year old woman was married to Don Johnson twice. The volatile couple first wed - and divorced - in 1976, then got together again from 1989 to 1996. Johnson began dating the New York City native when she was just 14 years old; he was 22 at the time. She was also married to actor Steven Bauer from 1981 to 1987.

In 1996, however, Melanie’s world changed - for good, it seems like now. The year before that, something life changing happened to the blond, bubbly actress. She starred in Two Much. That alone was not so stellar - the movie was met with very mixed reviews. There was nothing mixed about her feelings for her costar, however.

By all accounts, Antonio Banderas is one of the greatest actors of our times - his performance in Two Much notwithstanding. Born in Spain in 1960, he is both an actor and a singer. His first movie appearance was in 1982. Two American films helped launch him into super stardom, although the roles were small.

He played Miguel Alvarez, lover to Tom Hanks’ character, in 1993’s critically acclaimed Philadelphia. The hearts of audiences over the world melted as they saw him nurse his lover, dying of AIDS, through his last days. He also did a turn as Armand in Interview with the Vampire.

A year after meeting Melanie Griffith, the two were married. They still are. In fact, on May 14 of this year, they celebrated their thirteenth anniversary. In Hollywood years, that is practically an eternity. Together they have weathered purported drug problems, cosmetic surgery scandals, and numerous rumors of domestic troubles and divorce. They have a daughter together, Stella Banderas, born in 1996 as well.
